Getting Here By Car and Train
By car, take the Long Island Expressway to Exit 59 South. Turn right at the first light onto Ocean Avenue (Route 93). Follow it for 6.5 miles, as it changes to Lakeland Avenue and to Main Street in Sayville. Turn left and follow green-and-white 'Fire Island Ferry' signs to the docks. KFS Parking has spaces across the street from the ferry landing for $7 a day Monday through Thursday and $8 a day on weekends.

Most visitors take the Long Island Rail Road to Sayville. Vans from Colonial Taxi meet the trains and charge $3 for the three-minute ride to the ferry docks. In the summer, the ferry company tries to coordinate its schedule with the trains from Penn Station so that people who arrive by train will not have to wait more than half an hour for the ferry. Savvy travelers compare the schedules LIRR schedule to Sayville and catch the train that minimizes the wait for the ferry to the Pines.
